Willington on the Way September-2025
Hi everyone,
As summer winds down and folks return from their vacations (and hopefully unpack their suitcases by now), we skipped a board meeting—but don’t let that fool you into thinking things were quiet in Willington! Far from it.
Over in the bookstore, we received a wonderful anonymous gift: 14 brand-new shelves. The team wasted no time turning “a pile of shelves” into “a place for books,” and now we’re hard at work bringing our collection up to library standards. The Mystery section is being alphabetized by author, which is no small feat. (If you’ve ever tried to wrangle mysteries, you’ll know they live up to their name.)
On the history side of Willington on the Way, we had a special request from a patron who wanted a photo of her family at the 1950s Huguenot Reunion. Our History staff dove in headfirst, found the picture, made a copy, and had it ready in record time. Needless to say, the family was thrilled—and our archivists got to feel like detectives.
Meanwhile, in the Curiosity Shop, we’re expanding our collection of treasures. What’s coming? Well, let’s just say it’ll be worth the curious visit.
And that’s not all! In August we managed to:
Install a brand-new sign on Route 81 (so no one can claim they “missed us”),
Prepare to replace all the bookstore and annex windows,
Start work on the roof to tame those pesky leaks.
There’s more to be done, of course, but with the volunteer team we have at Willington on the Way, we’re convinced there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. After all, when you’ve got a crew that can alphabetize mysteries, you’ve got a crew that can do anything.
